Sagrada Familia

"Antoni Gaudí, one of the most famous figures of Catalan culture and world architecture, spent over 40 years designing the Temple of the Sagrada Familia."

This is one of the most amazing churches I have ever visited. We have visited this church twice on separate trips and I still marvel over the design and grandeur. The church is still under construction on the outside and hopefully will be done in 2026. The church can be crowded but that doesn't take away from this wonderful space. Get timed tickets ahead of time. it will make it much more enjoyable.

More soon...

A bit more in the world of Dali

As promised more photos of the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres, Spain. The Museum was built in 1974. The museum houses Dali's work from 1905 - 1989

From the Website:
The embryo of the Theatre-Museum project started at the beginning of the 'sixties. Ramon Guardiola, mayor of Figueres at the time, asked Salvador Dalí to donate a work for the Museu de l'Empordà. Dalí's reply came quickly: he would donate to Figueres not just a single work, but an entire museum:

"Where, if not in my own town, should the most extravagant and solid of my work endure, where if not here? The Municipal Theatre, or what remained of it, struck me as very appropriate, and for three reasons: first, because I am an eminently theatrical painter; second, because the theatre stands right opposite the church where I was baptised; and third, because it was precisely in the hall of the vestibule of the theatre where I hosted my first exhibition."

a trip to Figueres and a bit of Dali

We took a train trip to Figueres, Spain from Barcelona to go to the Salvador Dali Museum.
Figueres is the birthplace of Salvador Dali and home to the Dali Museum, one of the most-visited Spanish museums.

We decided to walk from then train, We wanted a snack and we had a bit of time. I would recommend taking the bus or a cab from the train station to the center of the city. The walk was through some areas that were a bit bedraggled. Although, for me that is good for photographing!

I do recommend the Museum!  Dalí Theatre-Museum. It is an easy train ride from Barcelona and is a fascinating place. All the art and just the design of the museum will delight you. I did order tickets early online and I would try to see when an off time is. Very big crowds.

Dali was a prolific and inventive artist. He created many sulptures as well as paintings. There are a few artworks that work like moving sculptures. They cost a euro to make them run and are worth parting with a euro

A few more photos soon

Doors and Windows, our facination

II think it is funny that many photographers including my self-are fascinated with windows and doors. Remember all those "Doors of posters"? These are taken in Spain. I took these pics on a trip in August. Maybe it the reflections, the balconies, the shutters, not sure why I tend to photograph windows and doors.

What is your favorite thing to photograph?

If you are in the Dedham Area, please visit the Dedham Guild's show "Windows and Doors" show at Dedham Community theatre in Dedham Square. Make a day of it
