Gondola Ride, Venice

The gondola ride we took was great and I advice it. It was about 100 euros for six of us. We learned about the city and how people live in Venice. These are photos from our ride. We went before sunset and the light was perfect. These are a bit out of order on our trip but you get the idea. So great

Venice Details

The top photos are from our fantastic Gondola ride. It is a tourist thing to do but worth it! I recommend it and quite a few boats can seat up to six people and great for families. It was wonderful to go off the beaten canal and see the Venice in the eye of it's residents

Basilica di San Giorgio Maggiore, Isola di San Giorgio, Venice, Italy

We had fun on this little jaunt to this Basilica. There was great view from the top of the Church. Our trip  about everything afforded great views, blue water and boats. Even with the Hubbub of boats it was a very peaceful place.

Tip: Research the way to get to any island via public transport or ask your hotel. We used the Rick Steve's book as our guide and it wasn't clear in the book on where to go for the boat.
In the heat and crowds of Venice and wasn't a pleasant experience.

Jaume Plensa, Together, Venice

We took a boat ride to this church and to our surprise we got to see the Juame Plensa Exhibit at the Church. It was very cool to see art in this church and it was part of the Venice art Biennale. These pieces were big, modern and wonderful. It was a contrast to this traditional Basilica

all in the Details, Venice

I can't couldn't get enough of this city. I have had several friends visit Venice in the last few month. They have all loved it. It is fun to see all the masks, but also how the people live there live, laundry and all.

Venice, Masks and...

I advice a Gondola ride. It can be pricey but with the exchange rate it isn't too bad. It is well worth it. You get to see back waterways and not tourists spots.

These next two photos are from a view at the St Mark's Basilica in St Mark's Square. You do pay extra to see the top part of the church but I felt it was worth it. You have a nice view of St Mark's Square. the church is free to get in but, get in line early. There will be a long line to see this beautiful Church.

One of the things that makes Venice famous is it's masked festival. There are masks everywhere for sale. Bright and colorful. Read about the festival ever year in Venice and the masks here
