Circles and Shine, NYC

These top three photos are from the Waldorf Astoria. I love the art deco of the Waldorf and was right across from our hotel. I took a quick walk over and got some shots with my Tokina lens

Fashion, Mannequin, NYC

Saks Fifth Avenue in NYC Windows are full of high fashion and a bit over the top. I have to admit the holiday windows attracted my attention right away. I bought a package emulating film called replichrome from Totally Rad recently. I decided to experiment with some of these photos

Lights, Rock Center, NYC

I love Rockafella center with it's statues, lights and skating. It is fun to watch and walk around with all the decorations during the holiday season. It is a must see during the holidays. Maybe, I will get to go next year.

Beignets, at Butter, NYC

We had a lovely dinner at Butter, a midtown restaurant owned by Alex Guarnaschelli. Our meal was very tasty but the greatest part were the Beignet dessert. Soft, full of jelly and decadent. I also loved the design of the restaurant. A fun place to eat. A nice sunday meal.

Lunch and a little Bird, NYC

We ate at the W Hotel near the World Trade center. It was good to get out of the cold and relax a bit.  The light sculpture in the lobby of the hotel was kind of impressive. It was also nice to warm up. The day we went to visit the 9/11 Memorial was slippery and rainy. Drying out and eating yummy food was a top priority.

I notice at one of the lights that we were waiting to turn so we could walk across the street was a funny, little bird just going about his business as well. He/She was so little but a nice to see a living thing around all the tall buildings.

Street, NYC City

I just bought this book, Store Front at the Museum of Boston Bookshop. I did buy it after my New York City Trip but I had a few photos that remind me of the photos in this book.

The Store front photos are from all around NYC city including Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx and more... I love some of the histories of the signs and stores in this book.

Color Pop, The New Museum, NYC

I had a very nice hot chocolate at the Café at the New Museum. I took a few minutes to take some photos. I love this artist-made lamp hanging above the food counter. I really want this lamp. The website doesn't mention the artist. I will find out next we visit.

What is out there, The New Museum, NYC

The New Museum has a view of the funky city scape around it. There is a roof top observation room. I wish it wasn't so slippery and we could have gone outside. Oh well, next time

Chris Burden II, The New Museum, NYC

More work of Chris Burden. Very fun and whimsical at times

These are all of the submarines made in the the US in hanging models. There was a list on the wall of each one with it's name. So interesting to see how many there that have been built in the US

I wish I had a better shot of this. It was a kind of a fantastical yet, familiar military landscape that took up most of the room. This really made me think of the world we live in.
