The U-505 Submarine, Chicago

We made a visit to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicage with the hopes of taking the German U-505 Sub tour in the museum.

My husband is very interested in WWII history and this is one of the only surviving German subs from that time. It was a great tour and gave you a glimpse into sub life. 50 men lived on this submarine for months at a time. I surprised how interesting the tour was. Life was somewhat difficult on a sub, as you can imagine!

Sadly, the sub has low light making it hard to photograph. I did manage these shots.

Check out those scratchy blankets. Although it was very hot on the sub and I am sure a blanket was not needed. Each man shared his bed in shift with other crew members.
