Miniature Worlds at the Art Institute, Chicago

Thorne Miniature Rooms was like heaven to me. The 68 rooms were spectacular for people who like all things mini. They were conceived by Mrs. James Ward Thorne. The detail is incredible and you feel like you are in a different world. The rooms range from the 13th century to the 1930's.  The rooms were  New England, English, Asian themes and more.

They were a little tough to photograph but I managed some shots and these are pretty fun

Steel and Rust, Chicago

Chicago impresses me as a city of steel and very tall buildings. Every building seems tall and grand and touch the sky

From above and touching the Sky, Tilt Shift, Chicago

I love doing Tilt Shift. It is just so much fun. It is hard to find good photos to do it with. We had a corner room on the 16th floor of the Wit hotel and had great views of the city. Although the last 2 shots are from a walk to a restaurant. I was very excited to have so many photos on this trip that I can
try tilt shift on. It makes me giddy.

Cloud Gate,The Bean, Chicago

This sculpture is by Anish Kapoor and called Cloud gate or by the nickname, the Bean. We could also see the sculpture from our hotel room. The sculpture is over 110-tons, and is 66 feet long and 33 feet high. It is pretty amazing piece of public art. I know it is cliche to visit and take a photo of yourself in the reflection but what the heck, why not. It is beautiful!

Color and Shape, Chicago

They have had this noodle in Boston and it says do not climb on it. Of course, that invites people to climb on it. It was funny watching people trying to get on the top.

The wonderful Grant Park, love the music venue pictured here

The eyes have it! Shedd Aqurium

What more can I say. Cool eyes if you ask me. I always wonder how animals and fish see.

Aquarium Fun

The trip to the Shedd Aquarium on the waterfront, was so much fun. we waited in a long line but it was worth it. I loved everything about the aquarium, from it's all of it's details in building design to displays.

Who can resist seeing colorful or funky fish in a their close to natural habitat. The aquarium had everything from colorful reef fish to piranha. Check out the guys teeth below.

Chicago Visit

We decided to visit Chicago for our 20th anniversary. It was such a fun city and the weather was terrific. sunny, breezy and 70's. So nice. One of the the things I loved about the city beside the food and museums is all the public art. I hope you will check back in on all my posts about Chicago.
A virtual tour of the city and our trip.

Vintage Shiny Metal

For 43 Years the Bay Sate Antique Auto Club Car Show has put on a car show. I have been many times. I have tried to make my photos more interesting and just getting details of the cars. I love vintage cars. Straight on shots to me are not that interesting. I love the details and try to hone in on them.

Owners of these cars but in a ton of work to keep these cars looking great and running. It really shows in the condition of these cars. I look forward to next year

I took a few pics at the Mother Brook Arts and Community Center the other day. the Center used to be a school and still has a playground. Eventually the playground will be turned into something else. Something art related. But, for now it stands quiet.

Farmer's Market Bounty

I had to take a ride over to the Cold Spring Park Farmer's Market to pick up my meat share from Chestnut Farms. Th market is full of fun vendors selling Kettle Corn, veggies, baked good, fish, honey, and more. I also picked up some local honey and fresh garlic for a dollar a piece.

These two were taken after a storm that went through Boston and we were waiting for a train to go by. Just love the light.

Th least three were taken at Mother Brook Arts and Community Center on my recent visit to a friend's studio. Not many people in the building, it was very eerie!
