Finally!! The paneling in my living room is gone. The paneling in the living room was one wall but it was driving me crazy. I would love a blank wall to start an art collection. The paneling was put over very old layers of wallpaper and an empty doorway. We are also getting rid of some funky built-in shelving, too. We will have to live with a mess for awhile but, it is all worth it.

45 Central Street, Norwood, MA
March 2nd 6-8 pm
I will be featuring my framed store window photos. I will also have matted prints, greeting cards, wall hangings and hopefully jewelry.
If you have never been to a First Fridays at Custom Art Framing you should attend this show. They are always fun. A chance to meet the artists and fellow art lovers. Why not have a bit of conversation, wine and cheese on a Friday night.
I am looking forward to meeting the artists behind the photographs.

Yesterday, My friend Tahli and I decided to take a walk around The Arnold Arboretum. It was almost 60 degrees, great for a walk and photographing. It was a bit overcast but we didn't mind. I haven't been to the park in some time, it was about time for a visit. There are so many different plants in the park we kept stopping to read the signs and photograph them, of course. I was happy to find some new life in the flowers that I photographed.
I thought it was fun that one of the trees had a string of Mardi Gras beads having from it's sign.

When I meet my husband in Boston, I often take the commuter rail and I walk up summer street in Boston. I hope for fun Macy windows. Sometimes, I am lucky. We met at Silvertone that night. I had very yummy chicken wings.

I walked around Dedham Square with my 55mm wide angle Diana Lens for my nikon. It was sunny and a good day for it. I love the dreamy quality of these photos. These things are all familiar to me so it is fun to see it through the Diana Lens. I did do some editing in Lightroom but, only to lighten the photos.
Photographers have you tried the Diana lens or something like it.?

I had some fun with Linear Burn on Photoshop and some new textures I downloaded from Far Far Hill Blog. There are some great textures, vintage patterns, and old time drawings on this site. I took the photo at Summer Shack in Dedham. I added two textures and on the layers I used lower opacities and linear burn to get this effect. I added a Lightroom vignette to make the sides and tops darker. You can also use an action in photoshop.
Enjoy your Sunday.

We had a nice Sunday visit to the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum. It was a bit windy and cold so there was not much walking on the grounds for us. I was a bit sad about this but it was mighty windy. I did snap a fun photo of Douglas Kornfeld sculpture with a scarf on. Very fun! We visited the Museum to see thier Biennial 2012 show of local artists. Mary Lum and Photographer, Jonathan Gitelson was on of my favorites. I liked quite a bit of the show and some of I didn't. But, That what some art is about, to get you thinking about modern life as we know it. Well something like that.
I loved the glass art piece by Soo Sunny Park and Spencer Topel, Platform 8, Capturing Resonance. It is a glass and sound installation and worth the trip.
After all the art, we headed back to Dedham for a lunch at Summer Shack. Very yummy.

The other night after drinks we walked over to the Paramount Theatre for the 69˚ S. (THE SHACKLETON PROJECT). I was excited to see what Arts Emerson did with the theatre. The theatre was closed for many years and and seemed like they were working on the inside for quite some time. It was all worth it. The theatre looks wonderful.
Sadly, I was shut down before I got anymore shots of the theatre. I longed for a few signs around to say "no photography". The usher was not so nice, maybe she was having a bad day, sigh.
After the show, we headed to Teatro. We hadn't been in quite some time. Our meal did not disappoint.
I also love how this restaurant is designed. It is very cozy and inviting. A nice ending to the night.
Have a great weekend. I hope to get lots of work done on a photography show I will be in at the beginning of March. More on that later.
