Sunday Surprises

I feel like I really lucked out on Sunday. I attended a meeting of Boston Handmade in the South End. I was a little bit early. I wanted to take some shots of the area. I stumbled upon the Boston Sculptors Gallery and David Lang's kenetic sculpture. What a treat! The sculptures were creative, quirky and moved.

After that, I wandered around SOWA Open Market a little bit. I had the pleasure to visit Jen of Zoogu at SOWA. and then headed to our BH meeting. We had a fun and lively meeting, all the while Sharon of Stray Notions made some cute little flowers. It is fun to see artists and crafters make thier work.

Artful Day, JP Open Studios

1. Top Photo: Bumble Belly Designs 2. 2nd photo: Maggie Carberry

It was really fun to visit my artist friends at the JP Open Studios. Amy of Bumble Belly had never done the open studios before. Next to her was Maggie Carberry. I have met her before, when working on the Dedham Open Studios. I love her eclectic work. I also had a chance to visit with Betsy of Stone House Studios, Matt McKee, Tony of Chroma Lab and Cynthia of Hang em High.

There was food, art, music, and this roving New Orleans type jazz band. They fun and quirky. I am so glad I was able to get some good shots of them. I had to run a little to catch up with them.

It was very sticky on Saturday, so I ended my day around 2pm with a slice of pizza and a coke at the Real Deal. I enjoyed my pizza and people watched.

Wandering Among all the Art, JP

On Saturday, I took a trip over to Jamaica Plain to check out the Open Studios. I had a few visits with friends who, were showing their work. I wandered a bit too and took some fun shots of store windows and alike. It is irresistable to me. More tomorrow...

Dedham Day, Family fun

The Friends of Dedham Recreation and the Friends of the Dedham Pool put on this celebration every year. I love to attend Dedham Day. I have fun photographing the rides, the food, and the fun. It was very hot and sticky this year but, still crowded with familes. There are games, bbq, rides, music and of course, the Annual Memorial mega (cow flap). At 1pm or so, “Juliette the cow” is be lead onto the deeded field. Everyone waits to see where she fertilizes. Sadly, I missed this year. There is always next year.

All on the way to...

Last Night, I walked from South Station through Chinatown to Silvertone, downtown Then on to dinner at Marliave. I ordered escargot and some delicious mussels. I had dash to catch a train home but, I did have enough time to take a few shots. I love the halloween window of the flower shop in South Station.

In the City

We went to the House of Blues last night to see Bill Bailey. It was so much fun and the show did not disappoint. We have been a fan of his since discovering the British comedy, Black Books. We waited quite a while in line, so some of us enjoyed a few hot dogs. The hot dog vendors are out in droves when there is a baseball game. Lucky us! After the show, we stopped by Petit Robert for a bit to eat. I ordered some escargot, yummy!
