Local Sculpture, Gints Grinbergs

I was so lucky last week to be able to photograph Gints Grinbergs work at his home in Dedham. I have meet Gint a few years ago at the Dedham Music and Art fest. He had smaller pieces at the show but, what he had on display, I really liked. It was great to see the sculptures around his yard and at a large scale. It reminds me of the deCordova museum in Lincoln, MA. One of my favorite places.

Gint has sculptures placed around his property. They looked so wonderful in a natural environment. Gints often uses materials he finds and up cycles them into these wonderful sculptures.

Mr. Grinbergs recently opened his home for Dedham Open Studios. He was among the many open studios that day. I couldn't see his art because I was showing my photography at the Dedham Community House. I didn't get to see that much art that day so this was a treat to visit Gint's home.

I think it is wonderful that there are so many local artists in Dedham and the surrounding communities. It makes it a very rich and vibrant place.

Los Straitjackets and Dave Alvin

I have to admit, these photos are just so, so. But, It was a really fun night of music. Los Straitjackets from Nashville were the opening band for Dave Alvin. I get a kick out of their wrestling masks. They play some really fun surf music, which I think is really cool live.

They opened for Dave Alvin. Dave Alvin rocked the house. He played some old favorites like "Marie, Marie" and "Fourth of July" But, he added in some new music from his current album. We try to catch every time he is in the Boston area. This time it was Johnny D's, which was a really cool venue. We decided on the dinner and show option. Yummy choice!

Sewing Fun, Stitch House

On Sunday, I took a sewing class by Elizabeth Brennick at Stitch House In Dorchester. I know how to sew but, I am very rusty. Beth's class gave me and our group tons of great tips, help reading a pattern, cutting fabric and putting in zippers. I have always had trouble with the pattern instructions.

The store was filled with beautiful yarns, knitting supplies, fabric, patterns and more. A color feast for sure. Stitch House was so gracious to let us use their store for our class. It was a great way to spend a Sunday.

Two Lions and... North End

This is the last of the photowalk photos in the North End. It was fun hanging out with fellow Boston Handmaders and taking in the sights and smells of the North End. We ended the walk with some yummy pizza and beer at Ernestos. The television was playing the Bruins and they went on to win the Stanley Cup that night. Very nice.

Moon over Boston

This photo is from the night the Bruins won the Stanley Cup. I am so excited this came out without a tripod. The moon was so bright and beautiful that night.

Finding... North End

These shots are from the North End Photowalk. I have photographed the North End over the years but, always find something new. I love that this neighborhood of Boston is so vibrant. It can have hustle and bustle but, also really quiet streets to wander.

Lots of eating in store for my weekend and hopefully a bit of yard work. What are your plans

From the roof, Midtown

This was our view from the Roosevelt Hotel Rooftop Lounge in New York City. It was a beautiful night and we were enjoying some tasty Albarino, people watching and the view. Love it!

Prom, NYC

I spotted these girls from outside the tourist shop in Times Square, they were shopping in. I am lucky that my friend Laura, spotted a t-shirt for her son. So into the shop we went. The girls were dressed up for Prom and it was totally unexpected to see them. They were so bright, they were hard to miss.

99 cent dreams and...

Some fun shots near and around Times Square in New York. The 99 cent dreams sign is very funny, it really doesn't make sense. "Everything $1 and up".

While walking through Times Square, I was attempting some off the hip shots with not much success, except for the last shot. A girl has to try. I hope you have a great week.

Skeleton and Tide, Boston

A little window fun on Newbury Street. My favorite was the Ralph Lauren window display. I like the retro feel of it. I am spending the afternoon with my Dad for father's day. It is a prefect weather day for it. I hope we have a BBQ.
