Spring on my Mind

I have been wanting to buy flowers for my yard. a little early, we are suppose to have a bit of snow. I am very sad about this news of snow, maybe it will miss Dedham.

Today. I stopped by the Endicott Community Greenhouse to buy some pansies. I think I could plant them next week, cross your fingers. I just love these colorful and delicate flowers. I love the greenhouse, too. It is old and a bit weathered. The flowers look even more beautiful against the backdrop of the greenhouse.

I brought my wide angle hoping for some unique shots of the greenhouse. The staff had just watered the flowers so, I was able to capture the water drops on the petals and leaves, lucky me.

On another note. I see people are really getting into the Instagram for the Iphone. I am a bit jealous since I don't have an Iphone. Look here at Sandra Juto's and My funny eye photos. Where old is new!

Petals

I took out the macro lens this morning. I had bought these lovely tulips, last week. I finally got around to photographing them. They just say spring and renewal. Sadly, snow may on it's way. say it isn't so.

All the Ingredients

Yesterday, we had a Boston Handmade meeting and sewing circle. We gathered to talk about our group's direction and what we are all doing in our craft. We were also, working on a special project that I will write about in the future. I loved all the buttons, beads, do-dads, fabric, and more, that we were able to choose from. Sharon of Stray notions brought lots of goodies to work with. Lynne was our host and one of her daughters joined the fun and made a purse for her doll.

Art and Food, Boston

On Saturday we had a little art and lunch adventure in Boston. It was a bit windy but we braved it. Our first stop was the Boston Anthenaeum to see the Edward Gorey exhibit. This was not a huge exhibit but well worth the trip. The next stop was the Panopticon gallery in Kenmore Square. The gallery is exhibiting photographs by Frank Armstrong, Bill Franson & Stella Johnson. I wanted to catch it before it closed. The photographs were wonderful and inspiring.

Our last stop was lunch at Eastern Standard in Kenmore Square. I had Oysters, can you tell I liked them. I also ordered Salt Cod Fritters, meh, but made for a nice photo. My hubby had a beautiful salad and according to him a very yummy burger. He cleaned his plate. Then the Orangeline, home and a nap. I like this kind of a day!

Street, Boston

Years ago, I went to college in Kenmore Square, Boston. It was always funky and had lots of pizza places, bars, clubs, record shops and tons of students. In the years following it has gentrified but there still a little funkiness holding on.

Some of my favorite Sculptures from our walk around the deCordova grounds. 1. Rick Brown - Butterfly Effect, 3. Nam June Paik - Requiem for the 20th Century, 4. Lars Fisk - deCordova Ball, 4. Roy Lichtenstein - Five Brushstrokes. I hope you enjoy them too.

Museum Adventure, deCordova

On Sunday, we visited the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum. It was a beautiful day to walk the grounds and visit the museum. I had wanted to see the Lucien Aigner Photo Exhibit and was not disappointed. I was pleasantly surprised by another artist's work on display, Rachel Perry Welty. Her work is a clever take on the everyday things in our lives and her life. There were several videos on how she installed the artwork in the gallery. This really added to the experience of seeing her work.

I really love the museum with it's old and new sections. The museum has expanded over the years and a delight to visit. Before, heading outside we had a little bit of rest bit on these green, bean bag chairs by Barbara Gallucci. They chairs are very fun looking and they remind me of cartoon characters.

I will have our outside adventure tomorrow...

With Friends

Every month, my friends and I have a girl's night out. We usually meet at a restaurant in Boston. We live in different places and it works so well to meet in the city. This month's girls night out started at Silvertone for a drink or two and then onto Amici in the North End. Our meal was delicious and I love that we are so welcomed in this cozy restaurant. There is nothing like sharing a great meal with friends.

First Day of Spring

Today is the first day of spring and in true New England fashion we have a little bit of snow. I feel that is a little lucky. I was able to run out to my yard to take this photo of the Crocuses coming up. They look so delicate with the snow sticking to them. I love the vibrant and rich purple color of the flowers.

This is your brain on...

This is from my Norwood Center photowalk. I thought this was pretty funny. I made me giggle. The bottom painting is quite something.

It's the Little Things

These are from walk around Norwood Center. I love the gazebo on the town common. Sadly. my town doesn't have one. I think it would be a nice thing. I went on my photowalk around 6:30pm. I love to take walks and photograph right around dusk. To me the light is wonderful.

What is your favorite time to photograph?

Neighborhood Familiar, Norwood

Yesterday, I took a walk around Norwood center around 6:30pm. It is still light out thanks to daylight savings. The sun was slowly going down. The light was perfect for a March night of photographing and it was so warm.

More tomorrow
