Last week, My nephew, his girlfriend and I went to the Animal Rescue League of Boston, Dedham Branch. They had been wanting to adopt a companion for their Yorkshire Terrier. She loves other animals and has been a bit lonely since moving in upstairs from us.
It is hard to go in to the center and not fall in love with every cat. Well, at least for me it is. Shane and Melissa picked out this cute kitten and named him Rocky. He is a bit of a boxer and loves to play. He came home on Friday. There was a bit of awkwardness but, I am happy to report that both and cat and dog are playing together.
On the day of our visit, this dog (above), Oden, was also adopted. He was so beautiful and gentle. Shane had seen him a month ago at the shelter and was happy to hear he was adopted.
Let's go back to my statement about falling in love with every cat. Well, I fell in love with this black and white, very playful, ninth month old kitty. You guessed it. I went back for her. Photos of Milly, later. She is adorable and I hope the other kitties in my household will start to like her. She really wants to make friends. The staff told me she did well in kitty playgroups. I think it is funny and cute they have kitty playgroups.
I love the grounds of the shelter. They have room for horses, a beautiful barn and garden. The pet cemetery so peaceful and is on a pretty piece of land. It is nice that this is in our town.

What a happy story! I am a foster parent for the ARL in Boston and so far I have fostered two kitties...and... um... adopted both of them. Oops! I know what you mean, it is almost impossible for me not to fall in love with almost any animal I spend time with.
Congrats to your and your nephew on your new family members!
cuuuutest!
