Funky, Haverhill, MA

More photos as promised. It was fun taking photos of the funky windows in downtown Haverhill.

Today is Memorial Day. My Grandfather was a world war II veteran. He was a marine and was in the Marshall Islands, Burma and Samoa during the war. My father-in-law was also, a marine and he fought in Iwo Jima. He was injured twice. He is 85 now. He has told us many stories about the war.

Shoe City, Haverhill, MA

Last Night, we took a drive up to Haverhill, MA to visit our friend, Jeff. He is moving from Haverhill to California. He had a a shin dig at his apartment. He lives near the center of the city. I took a walk through the downtown and was able to get some fun shots. I will miss this city that once had the title "Queen Slipper City of the World." It has many old warehouses that are slowly being done over for new things such as condos and shops. More tomorrow...

Angle and Pieces, Dedham

These are a bit pretty but I like some of the angles. The neighborhood near Dedham Square has tons of historic houses and pretty things to photograph. It makes for a really nice walk and great for photographing.

Color and Lights, Boston

I met friends in the North end last week, to eat at Neptune Oysters. On the way to the North End, I took a few shots of this carousel. The kids were having fun riding it. I am always trying to get good shots of these kind of amusements. Someday, I will. I am attracted to all the colors and lights. What are your favorite things to photograph?

We had a wonderful dinner and stopped later for dessert and coffee. It was a fun night.

Green, Dedham, MA

Recently, Steph and I stopped by the Endicott Community Greenhouses in Dedham. I buy plants from this local non-profit every year. They give the money they make back to the community. We are on a waiting list for a small garden plot, but alas, we are number 25. Needless to say, we have some time to wait. On my visit, I took some photos around the greenhouse. When I was photographing the poppy (top photo) a man walked by and asked me if the flower smiled back at me. We had a good laugh

Diana, Spring Flowers

My first photos with my new little plastic Diana Lens. Not too bad. I still have to practice and experiment to get the hang of it. It is interesting go low tech.

Duck in a Wig, Providence

These photos were mostly taken on Westminster St. in Providence. It is a very cool, arty area of the city. I love the duck in the wig. Very whimsical!

Big Nazo, Providence

We walked by the Big Nazo headquarters on Monday in Providence. I was like "wow". Fun stuff! The windows were filled with this fun creatures. Happy Sunday

Providence, RI

Beth and I walked all around Providence on Monday. Providence has lots of art, historic houses, cute little shops but a funky, industrial side. I had fun photographing these parts of the city. I will have some more photos tomorrow.

Craftland, Providence

Craftland, Providence What a treat to go to this shop in Providence. I met my friend, Beth in Providence for a photowalk. I have been to Providence many times but, don't know the city very well. Beth was my tour guide.

We stopped by Craftland, where Beth has some of her handmade clothing for sale. We were greeted by her lovely, friend Devienna. This is shop is all about handmade. Craftland is in a wonderful big space with tall windows and lots of light. It was a feast for the eyes. So much color and crafty things! I think you could find a gift for almost anyone on your list. This shop also has an online shop, classes and a gallery. When we stopped by, we were lucky enough to see Catherine Hamilton's, recent works on paper.
