Karlsruhe Palace, Germany, 1715. We visited this lovely and big palace on our trip to Karlsruhe. It houses an interesting Museum. I would love to known German. You can go to the top of the palace and have a cool view of the city and the grounds around the palace. The city of Karlsruhe has grown up around the palace grounds. All those trees made it feel very peaceful. The weather was not so great, sunny, cloudy, to sunny.
We were lucky enough to walk through the beautiful botanical garden on the way to the Karlsruhe Palace. It is part of the Palace grounds. It had so many wonderful flowers in bloom. Because, of the clouds the colors of the flowers seemed even more intense.
We made a quick visit to the city of Karlsruhe at the foot of the Black Forest of Germany. Of course, food was a main part of our visit and we had a a tasty German meal. I thought the kitty in this last photo was so cute, it has a huge stuffed mouse as a playmate. More of Karlsruhe, later...
Weingarten, Germany My friend Steph and I walked up a big hill in the town where there was some fantastic views of the town and of course, grapes. This is a wine region. We also, took a walk around to explore the town. We had ordered pizza from a local place and had to wait quite, awhile so why not take a walk. I love this little playground in the bottom photo, so cute. Happy Saturday
I am coming to the end of the vacation photos soon. I am a little sad about it. Alas, I have to move onto other things.
These are the last of the photos. Doesn't the top photo look very yummy? It seems like I lived there for a short time. We did visit Strasbourg for a total of three days. I covered quite a bit of ground. Someday, I will go back and stay a bit longer.
These are my shots from the area of Strasbourg called Little France except for the bottom photo. It is Strasbourg and I thought it was cute. We didn't always have the best weather. Little France is a wonderful collection of buildings, stores and restaurants. We had a yummy meal the night of our stay. It was hard to choose between places to eat. I fell in love with Alsacian Food, especially Alsacian tarte flamb'e (pizza).
Strasbourg, France is a very beautiful city. We had the pleasure of visiting it twice on our trip to Germany. We ate good food, took a boat tour and walked around the section called "Little France". But every city has it funky parts. I had fun capturing that too. More, pretty photos later...
This castle visit came after the Monkey adventure. The weather was less than ideal but we still had great views from the castle.
A brief timelime: The castle construction started in the 12th century and was rebuilt in 1462. The castle burned in 1633 during the thirty years war. It was left for 200 years. It was classified as a historical monument in 1862. The castle was restored between 1900-1908.
I just loved all the details of this castle and the views. It was fun to walk around in all the rooms and experience a little what life was like way back when.
