Surreal, Woonsocket

Yesterday, I took a trip down to Woonsocket, RI to visit with my niece. We decided to try take our chances to find a place to eat downtown. We did succeed and found a place that served stuffed clams (stuffies) and fruity drinks. It was a awful weather day but, I managed to get a few shots of these funky stores on our way back to the car. Some fun stuff!

Thoughts of Spring

I couldn't resist these flowers even though, they are fake. I am dreaming of spring. We had tons of cloudy snowy or rainy days. Very drab

Shabu, Shabu, Chinatown

One of my favorite ways to spend an afternoon is to eat Shabu Shabu. We met our friend Jeff in Chinatown for lunch on Saturday. I suggested Kaze for lunch. Jeff had never tried this great way to eat food. I picked the surf and turf, although I can't say I liked the octopus. I like that you can pick your own brhot and type of noodle.

Dusk, Boston

Last week, I was meeting friends for dinner and drinks. I was a little early and I was able to walk around the Back Bay and take a few shots. The moonlight was wonderful. It was a windy but, not so cold night. I was trying to hold the camera steady in hopes most of my shots would be in focus. Lucky, me it all worked out.

On my walk, I ran into a friend of mine Robert Torres, who is also a photographer. Check out his blog.

O.K. I can't help myself. I love to to photograph the antics of my kitten Isabelle. Calicos have a reputation as being a bit quirky and maybe, a bit crazy. Isabelle likes to steal things, wrestle our other cat, Nelson and play most of the day. It has been fun

Winter Fashion, Boston

I love this ensemble. What a fun combination. The coat is so cool and I don't think I have seen anything like it. She has really embraced winter.

The Rest of The Details, North End

It was fun walking around the North End. I try to capture and find new things. I love all the little shops, corners, food, buildings, etc. We stopped by Aquire to take a few shots of their windows. This is such a fun little shop (bottom photo). Have a happy Friday

Photowalk, North End

On Monday, I went for a photowalk with my friend and fellow artist, Lily. We had been planning this for quite some time and finally the day arrived to explore the North End together. With cameras in hand, we wandered just about all over this historic area. We stopped for pizza at Ernesto's and later for dessert at Caffe Vittoria. What I love about exploring and photographing with someone else is you get to see what they are drawn too. We made a stop at The old North Church. Lily's grandfather told her that some of her relatives have been buried in the North End. We thought we might get some answers to where they were buried at the church. After a few questions asked of the guide at the Old North Church we headed up to Copp's Hill Burying Ground. We didn't locate her relatives but we had a fun time photographing and checking out the old gravestones. It was a successful day of picture taking. I picked the North End, next time, Lily will be picking the location. More photos tomorrow!

I have been over to Davis Square quite a few times now. A couple of times for our artist meet-ups and Slam@The Burren. It has been photographing and exploring this area of Somerville. It is lively and vibrant. I almost forgot about the Rosebud Diner. I had eaten there years ago. I love the look of this diner. I am thinking, I should take a night trip over to Davis Sqaure to capture the Rosebud sign at night. I also, took a walk over to Sacco Bowl Haven. I didn't have time to wander inside but really like the retro feel of this bowling alley. On my next trip I plan to find new treasures to photograph. I would like to capture more of the Rosebud and maybe, wander inside the Bowl Haven.

Dedham Square Country Market

I took a trip for the second time over to the Dedham Square Country Market, located in the Odd Fellows building at 626 High Street (next to Nest). There was lots of good things to buy and fresh. too. I bought some Best Friends Cocoa, so yummy. I picked up some fresh tomatoes and lettuce. There is a nice assortment of vendors at this new market. Stop by on Sunday's if you can, it is open 10am-2pm. Nest has also been open on Sundays. One of my favorite shops.

Slam@The Burren, Somerville

Saturday, I took a trip over to Somerville to support fellow Boston Handmade artists, Jessica of Reclaimed to you, Bexx of White Sparrow Bindery and Jaye of Thirteenth Story were showing their work at this Valentine themed show. This was a second show at The Burren. The Burren hopes to do more of these shows. There was a good variety of work including jewelry, wearables, handmade books, art and more...It was fun to see the amount of cool things for sale. I bought a Valentine card from Jessica, I think my husband will like this cute, homemade card. And it is made with recycled material, always a plus.

Some other artists that attracted my attention: The Sneering Earring, Lovelit Studio, and Emily Garfield
