We had our Esty meeting with Maria Thomas in Jessica Burko's Studio. I had been there once before but, only briefly. It was fun to take a look at Jessica's art and materials she uses all in one space. You get a sense of who an artist, by their studio space. She has a studio in a building in South End. The area has a lots of studio. If you get a chance, you should go to one of the SOWA events and check what the area has to offer.
Yesterday, Some our group, Boston Handmade was able to meet with Maria Thomas (center, holding the giftbag) of Etsy.com. We able to meet in Jessica Burko's Studio in the South End of Boston. It was both exciting and fun to meet Maria. I have had a etsy shop for awhile now and it was great to hear what direction etsy is going in. It was also, great to hear other members thoughts on etsy and their own experiences with online selling.

My friend and I visited the Harvard Museum of Natural History, last weekend. There were some special exhibits, like this one above. This exhibit was of the glass artists, Leopold and Rudolph Blaschka, The father and son team that also, created the glass flowers, that are part of the museum's collection. This exhibit was of sea creatures. There are remarkable details in these pieces. After viewing this exhibit, we wandered around checking out what the museum has to offer. Lucky, for me they allow photography.

My friend, Sean and I were exploring Harvard Square when, we came upon a the cigar shop, 118-year-old, Leavitt & Peirce Tobacco. I have walked by the shop dozens of times and never gone in. Sean wanted a cigar and tried to convince me to get one too. Well, I declined the offer. The shop was like a trip back in time with tons of old photos and posters on the wall. They all sell games and shaving supplies. Even, if you don't smoke cigars it is worth a trip to the shop.

My friends and I walked by this bike the other day. Often, when the snow melts lots of abandoned things and trash are finally uncovered. I think this bike was left here long ago.

Old South Church - Boston, MA
I was taking photos in Copley Square, Boston, the other day. I decided to visit this Church. I must have passed this church thousand of times and never went in. The church is quite beautiful with lots of gothic details. I only wished I had visited the church sooner. I was much surprised and happy to have experienced the beauty of this building

My friends and I went to Penang in Boston's Chinatown, last night. We had some wonderful food. We ordered this delicious bowl of Curry with Young Tua Foo. It was warm and tasty for a chilly night
I encouraged my niece, Katie to take some photos with my camera. I still had the Macro lens on the camera and was interested to see what she would come up with. I love all the funky angles she choose to shot. Some of the objects are everyday but I am looking at them in a new light. Katie had a wonderful time shooting these photos

Taking the idea from my friend, photographer, Lucie Wicker. I decided to try some sepia images of my own. I decided to try some plants in Sepia. I have always loved sepia tone. It is much different feel from black and white, much warmer.

I have recently, started sewing again, much to my husband's chagrin. I do however, have a brand new sewing machine and find it much better than my old Kenmore. It was trusty for a long time but it was time to go. I am inspired by my Boston Handmade group. So many people sew I had to join the fun.

I was walking by Barking Crab restaurant the other day. It is along the waterfront of Boston. I love this sign. It looks like a clam shack that are all down the Massachusetts coast. A little bit of cape cod in Boston

Some shots of Boston at night. I was meeting friends at Silvertone but, I was a little early so I was able to take a few photos in the downtown area. My favorite is the bottom one, it is a shot of the escalator down to the orangeline subway.
